5 Ways to Make Money Online while Traveling

While travel can offer so many wonderful experiences unfortunately there always seem to be one thing that gets in the way – money.

You may be surprised to realize that there are actually loads of ways to make money online while traveling.

Whenever people talk about making money online many of us cringe, but I think this is unfair. It’s 2017 and there are now loads of legitimate ways to make money online. You can read countless blogs of people living a life of nearly constant travel and while for many of us this simply isn’t feasible, it’s important to realize it’s possible.

For most of us, a bit of extra cash while traveling is all we need, plus it’s the perfect excuse to extend your trip.

I think the most important factor when looking to earn money while traveling is for the jobs to be quick and easy. When you’re in a foreign country you simply don’t have time to be messing around with complex methods to make money.

Here’s my list of quick and easy ways that I use to make money while traveling.

Take online surveys

Many of you have probably heard of paid online surveys but you may be surprised to know that there are people earning quite a good income from them, and their convenience and reliability makes them a great way to earn money while traveling.

The best sites to earn money while traveling are those that pay cash or Paypal, such as Pureprofile and Toluna.

Become a Freelancer

In recent years freelancing online has become huge and for good reason. There are just so many opportunities to earn money from freelancing and it’s easily one of the most trustworthy ways to make money online.

A freelancer doesn’t necessarily have to be an expert. For example, work could involve writing a simple article for someone’s blog, using your technical skills to create software, giving legal advice etc… it really depends on where your personal interests/skills lie.

Sites such as Upwork and Freelancer are a great place to start. I recommend you create a profile and do a couple of jobs that guarantee5-star feedback upon completion.

Once you’ve completed your first couple of jobs you’ll have the best chance of securing top quality gigs later.

Do some MicroWork

Although micro working does share similarities with freelancing, it’s different enough to warrant a description of its own.

Just as the name implies, micro working involves completing small, quick tasks for money.

Most jobs take hardly any time to do and can be as simple as posting something on Facebook or writing a product review. This is perfect is you’re short on time and want to quickly earn a few bucks.

The jobs are only small and therefore the pay is minimal, but the benefit of them being quick is that you can do as many as you like. You can find opportunities at sites like Microworkers.

Sell photos online

For some people taking photos isn’t just something to do while traveling – it’s THE reason to travel.

Travel photos muster all types of feelings within us and this is why they’re so powerful, but there’s more you can do with them than simply posting them on Instagram.

Websites such as Shutterstock allows you to become a contributor where they’ll host your photos and you’ll earn a commission from each sale.

Sales usually depend on 1. The quality of the photo and 2. whether or not it is in demand so it can pay to do some research.

Complete jobs on Fiverr

Fiverr is undeniably the home of weird and wonderful ways to make money online – but this is the appeal! Jobs can be quick and easy or long and complex depending on the type of service you offer.

Fiverr is a place where you can make money from any skill or talent you have and as such, it simply lists all the ways you can make money with Fiverr, but some examples include recording voice overs, managing social media pages, designing logos… anything!

A job will usually earn you US$5, but you can charge more for additional extras such as completing jobs in less time.

Some final advice…

 I recommend you start trying these methods out before you leave. This way you’ll know what works for you and it will give you a chance to gain some feedback. Good luck and have fun!
