The Warsaw Intercontinental is a modern, five-star hotel located in the heart of the city. With panoramic views of Warsaw, the Intercontinental is in close proximity to the Old Town, the Palace of Science and Culture, the National Museum, and more. The hotel offers 414 rooms, including 76 extended-stay suites, several cafes, a Michelin-recognised restaurant, a wine bar, and a fitness center, spa, and sauna complex on the 44th floor. My friend and I stayed at the Warsaw Intercontinental for two nights after our visit to Krakow.
Location
The Intercontinental is located in Warsaw’s downtown district, across the street from the Palace of Science and Culture and the Zlote Tarasy shopping mall. Warsaw’s historic Old Town, heavily damaged in World War II and restored lovingly afterwards, is a twenty-five minute stroll, €6 taxi ride, or quick jaunt on public transport. We arrived in Warsaw from Krakow by train; the train station is just next door to the hotel. On our departure, we opted for the train to the airport instead of the hotel’s car service (€17) because there was traffic.

Check-in at the Warsaw Intercontinental
When we stepped into the airy lobby, we were immediately enveloped in the modern, sleek design. A brightly lit check-in desk awaited us while the concierge’s desk was appointed with staff in crisp white shirts. The staff were exceptionally warm and inviting, as was the ubiquitous red carpet with the Intercontinental brand.
Despite the crowded lobby, check-in at the Warsaw Intercontinental was fast and easy. The staff was polite and efficient, answering our questions with practiced poise. At all times through our stay, the staff was knowledgeable about museums to visit and other tourist attractions in Warsaw.
Our Room
Because I was traveling with my friend, we had one of the Twin Standard rooms. Our view was spectacular, looking out over the Palace of Justice, the Zlote Tarasy mall, and Warsaw’s Central Station.

The room was spacious; all rooms at the Warsaw Intercontinental are a minimum of 32 square meters. There was plenty of room for our luggage and clothes. The room was equipped with an ironing board and iron and laptop safe, both inside the closet, complimentary coffee and tea making facility, a LED flatscreen TV, and a minibar.
Our room was softly lit, with rich dark wood and warm accent fabrics. It was classic, with a comfortable armchair near the window and a spacious desk next to the dresser. The beds were incredibly comfortable and plush, and we both slept great while we were there!
A nice perk at the Warsaw Intercontinental is the complimentary water, put fresh into your room by the cleaning staff daily. High-speed wifi is complimentary in all of the rooms as well.
The bathroom was large and equipped with both a bath and separate shower. The amenities were nicely displayed on the bathroom counter. The only negative thing about the amenities was that the hairdryer was old and slow.

Breakfast
Breakfast was served buffet style at the DownTown Restaurant and Steakhouse, which is located on the first floor of the hotel, overlooking the Palace of Culture and Science and Emilii Plater Street. The restaurant is well-known for their extensive breakfast buffet, which we were looking forward to trying out!
As expected, there were a lot of options. In addition to the many cakes, fresh juice and smoothies, fruits, eggs, sausage, bacon, cold meats, and cheeses, there were also traditional Polish dishes like potato pancakes and hard rolls.
The restaurant also features an a la carte menu for breakfast. Both my friend and I tasted food from the buffet and ordered a freshly prepared omelet. All of it was delicious! I recommend enjoying breakfast here during your stay, as there are options for everyone.
Dinner at the DownTown Restaurant and Steakhouse
That evening, we dined once again at the DownTown Restaurant and Steakhouse. While still bright and airy, the restaurant had transformed into a colorfully lit space. The tables were set with exquisite silverware and impeccable wine glasses, although we both opted for local Polish beer.
I started my meal with the French Onion Soup, topped with a Gruyère cheese crouton. It was wonderful, with the right balance of caramelized onion and cheese.
For my main course, I ordered the pepper steak with French mustard, a spicy, yet classic, dish. I requested it well-done, yet it was still tender and tasty. I also ordered a side dish of crisscut fries, which were perfectly crispy.
The menu at the DownTown Restaurant and Steakhouse is designed to incorporate all dietary and allergen information. Next to each dish is a colour-coded bullet point that identifies it as pork, spicy, vegetarian, or light. There are also numbers, which identify which allergens the dish includes, whether that be gluten, dairy, egg, shellfish, mollusks, or peanuts.

The following night, we ordered room service, which was just as delicious as the meal we ate in the restaurant.
Fitness and Spa
The Warsaw Intercontinental Hotel has two fitness center/spas. The first, the Riverview Wellness Centre, is on the 43rd and 44th floors. It is well-equipped with the latest in fitness equipment, a spa and sauna, and an amazing rooftop pool. The Pearl Spa is on the 43rd floor, where you can indulge in relaxing spa treatments. On the ground floor, the Pearl Beauty Clinic is designed for clients who wish to immerse themselves in nutrition and aesthetic facial care.
My stay at the Warsaw Intercontinental Hotel, in the heart of the city, was wonderful. The room was delightfully luxurious, the staff was warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious. There are so many amenities within the hotel and easy access to the rest of this vibrant city. If you are planning a getaway in Warsaw, I recommend staying at the Warsaw Intercontinental.
